What is the progress of construction of the upper wall?

The herb garden properties have also been compromised by a wall obstructing their lower views, but sadly few people came forward to support them at the time. The fear of replicating this elsewhere in Underscar’s front elevation has now sadly been realised.

Plus ease of access to these lodges used to be possible from the Manor House Hotel, which is now denied.

From the outset concerns were expressed at an AGM with regard to potential vulnerabilities associated with a Russian owner, which in the early days were not taken sufficiently seriously by the committee, and now we find that other vulnerabilities have arisen with the new owner.

It’s really important therefore that full transparency going forward is provided and that owners hopefully stand together in support of one another across the site, to achieve good workable solutions ….but in the interim is it not essential that a summary of all serious outstanding concerns expressed to date, remain transparent to owners VIA EMAIL alongside this facility ….given this owners website appears to be used by very few.?

Perhaps if owners were informed of serious issues in brief summary form, they would be more likely to familiarise themselves with the owners website.

Perhaps even a brief and simple user guide to the owners website could be provided via email, with a simple “click here “ facility to easily direct them to the owners website and assist those unfamiliar with its usage?

I fear many are in ignorant bliss so long as such issues remain undocumented to the majority, and are treated on an informal basis.

This sadly only adds to understandable concerns going forward with regard to the current “ allowable” methods of communication between owners and the growing need for greater transparency.

Thank you Julie. I just can’t believe this. Totally devastated at this desecration. I presume the once lovely gardens we walked through are no longer ”ours” to wander amongst? I hope there will be a large reduction in the garden maintenance fee. That’s another matter – the huge hike in fees! We certainly took the wrong decision to purchase – it would make more sense to keep on renting on an ad hoc basis.

We can’t see the picture I’m afraid ronwill, I’d be interested to see how it’s progressing though. Wasn’t impressed when I was there in February. candmef, the wall has been planned for well over a year (maybe even longer) – it’s about a meter from the bedroom windows on the front wall and will be around 2 meters high I think. Impairs views from the bedrooms but not the 1st floor.

Here is a photo taken last Saturday 31 March.pdf
The wall……………more ”Berlin” than ”Underscar” !!
Very, very, very disappointed.

Hi, Where can I find out more about this wall? I am a new owner, just purchased a week on the bottom row because of the open aspect.! Have been renting ad hoc for about 8 years, and finally took the plunge to buy – no-one mentioned a wall being built. Thank you

I was there week 7 (Ashness – Front wall) and they’re making progress I’m sorry to say. The remains of the Monkey Puzzle tree has been removed and the whole place is a building site with lorries / vans coming up where the steps used to be to the manor. They’re lining the front of the wall with stone so at least we’ll be looking at a wall of stone rather than breeze blocks. As you enter the ginnel now and look toward the fells you’ll see a huge wall – it’s heartbreaking and infuriating in equal measures. Why the wall couldn’t have been a ”statement of boundary” rather than a ”lock the peasants in” approach I’ll never know.

Very, very disappointed
