Outrageous wall proposal« Back to Questions List

How can our committee sit on their hands over this matter when clearly it will have a huge detrimental impact on the site renown for it's stunning views? There are far more amicable ways to delineate the boundary and keep it private without a spiteful act like this.

Have just completed work with Peter Allen on his December chairman’s letter. Hope it helps everyone understand what the Board is trying to do for us all.

There is still time to object! Following the submission of a (slightly) amended plan by the owner, the deadline for comments has been extended to 5 January 2017. Please, all those who love Underscar send in your comments.

As far as I can see, the Board is doing what it can. There are 895 owners apparently and only 40 have written to complain about the proposed wall. Shouldn’t the other 95% show a little interest and effort and register their concerns to Planning as well? Steve Riley.

I have had a standard response from the local Authority. It is vital that everyone notifies the local Authority with their objections. Application no.7/2016/2266.”phil.nicholls

I too am horrified for all sorts of reasons. Security is one of them not yet mentioned as owners will have to walk through alleyways to reach their apartments. Also, in the case of fire, how will the emergency services such as ambulances and fire engines be able to approach the cottages?
The original planning application was apparently submitted in October…why are we only hearing about now? The committee are acting way beyond their remit and without reference to us owners.

Sometimes it is necessary to stand ones ground and fight for what is right…after all we have had rights to use the gardens and footpaths since 1999. How can this now be taken away from us? Lawyers, please respond……

It is important that as many people as possible object to this application so that the strength of views is appreciated both by the owner and the planning authority. I shall be objecting before the 18 Nov deadline and encourage everyone who feels strongly to do the same. Valid points would seem to be:
Loss of views (from ground floor windows and from Ashness arch)
Loss of sunlight to ground floor rooms
Damp, dark area between wall and cottages – extra drainage probably required
Appearance of frontage: high solid wall, visible greenhouse and kitchen garden. Neither an enhancement of the heritage asset nor reinstatement.
Impact on nature sanctuary for red squirrels
Biodiversity: trees and bushes in garden
Loss of privacy in ground floor bedrooms (more people walking directly in front of windows).

Totally agree. The committee have acquiesced way beyond their remit and had no authority to give up our rights. All owners need to get together to fight. We need access to all email addresses so that owners can know the truth of what has been going on behind our backs. my contact is [email protected]
