Welcome back to Spring in Keswick!

Spring is here in Keswick, lambs in the field, daffodils nodding in the breeze and hope in the air!  What a year it’s been since last March when we all went into lockdown for the first time.

But we are all hopeful for the future.

Meanwhile, nature forges ahead, oblivious to what we humans are dealing with.

The birds are nest-building, the lambs are frolicking, the red squirrels are courting, and the spring flowers pushing through.   We know things remain challenging visiting places right now, but if you do get chance to come to the North Lakes here’s a few things to do.

Take a walk:

One of our favourites from Underscar is the walk up Latrigg.  Head out of the back of Underscar onto the Cumbria Way and its about 2 miles to Latrigg, climb up the hill to the viewing point and enjoy views across Keswick in the valley below to Derwentwater.

Of course, the amazing fells that surround Keswick can be your playground, here’s a few ideas from our friends at the National Trust Lake District:

Catbells:  The Lair of the wildcat and perfect little mountain.

Or head down to the lakeshore:

Brandelhow: An easy lakeside amble along the shores of Derwentwater.

Enjoy our fabulous food and drink:

On 12 April, the pubs, restaurants and cafes are opening outdoors, so lets hope we all get some mild spring weather.  Just come dressed warmly and you can enjoy the hospitality!  There are so many great local places to choose from in Keswick and they will all be delighted to welcome you back.  Please go out and support them, and spend your money locally.

When you first arrive, don’t worry about bringing food with you, just head to our local food shops and specialists shops all of which are open – such as Booths or the Co-op in Keswick and stock up on lots of delicious Cumbrian Food.

We have also set up a partnership with ‘A Day’s Walk’ a fantastic local family business who procure Cumbrian food and supply it to holiday cottage visitors, and locals alike.  Whether you fancy Herdwick Lamb, Bowness Ale, or local cheeses and chutney, they can bring it to your door.  And if you use the code US2021 you get a very nice 10% discount (minimum £40 spend + delivery charge)

Bistro news:

We can’t open the Bistro yet until at least May, when Government guidelines change. But when we can it will be back up and available for hot and cold drinks, selection of beer, wine, spirits, light snacks and our famous afternoon tea.

Relax in the pool, gym and spa:

We’re delighted to be opening again on 12 April, Covid guidelines will of course be followed.  Whether you fancy a treatment, a session at the gym, or a chill out in the pool we will manage your visit safely and carefully.

Enjoy the return of Spring in the Lakes and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

From time to time we have some of our beautiful time-share apartments available to book for a break. Check them out here.
